It’s once again time to put the pool away. But research suggests that spending even just 2 hours outside per week is positively linked to improved mental and physical health. So how can you reduce anxiety, promote creativity, and contribute to heart health – in winter? We’d like to share these 5 ways to make spending time outside easier in the cold half of the year.

  • Fire Pits, Fireplaces, and Heaters: Let’s start with the obvious! Strategically spaced heat sources are a straight-forward way to promote quality time outside. If you’re looking for something a little more “set in stone”, give us (and our masons) a call.
  • Insulated Porch Enclosures: Keep that heat contained! Encourage yourself to go out guiltless by saving on the resources associated with maintaining outdoor heaters and fires. Porch enclosures can also protect you from wind and weather fall.
  • Evergreen Plants: It’s the little things that make a big difference! If your backyard oasis isn’t accented with evergreens like yew and spruce, or winter-berried plants like mountain ash and rose bushes, you may want to consider replanting. No need to decorate for the holidays when nature will bring on the beautiful reds, greens, and golds for you!
  • Outdoor Kitchens: We build them! You’ve got the pool, the patio, and the outdoor living room – why not complete the set?
  • Hot Tubs and Spas: If you haven’t taken the plunge yet, then now’s the time to reconsider. Winter is an important time to keep your health up with proven hydrotherapeutic methods. Soaking in hot water reduces arthritis, muscle tension, and back pain. It can even improve your ability to sleep. Let us know if you’d like to add a hot tub or spa to your gift list!

Remember: Are you signed up for our Winter Maintenance Program? If so, then these services will start this month. If you’re not signed up yet, then now is your last chance to call us for pool care throughout the off-season. We make sure your pool is balanced and stable all winter long, at a water level that protects the tile and coping from frost damage. The only way to “set and forget” your pool until next year is our Winter Maintenance Program – give us a ring!
